Chipotle, Gryffindor, and Dogs: Who Knew? Meet Lisa Chatys and Lauren Meyer, Managing Director and Inside Sales Rep at MIS Computer.

Q: Describe your role at MIS.

Lisa: As Managing Director my role at MIS can change each day, which is why I love it! I have the unique perspective of having worked in every department at MIS with the exception of shipping as I do not have the muscles for it. My main priority is to ensure our clients are happy and receiving the support they need from our team, but I happily accept the challenge to step in and assist wherever needed.

Lauren: My role at MIS is to work with customers to find what they want, create solutions and ensure a smooth sales process.

Q: What’s your favorite MIS event or memory?

Lisa: At MIS we subscribe to the attribute of Work Hard, Play Hard! My favorite memories all revolve around the group activities we have outside of the office be it a BBQ out back or the CEO taking shots for each strike at a company bowling party. My absolute favorite memory though is an Uber experience in San Francisco with Maurice and John that I hope to never forget, never in my life have I laughed as hard as that moment.

Lauren: My favorite memory with our MIS staff was our holiday party at Whirlyball. It was great to blow off some steam and get to know everyone on a personal level!

Q: What’s your favorite place for lunch?

Lisa: Chipotle, I eat my lunch at my desk 99% of the time.

Lauren: Chipotle.

Q: What’s the most interesting item on your desk?

Lisa: A sugar skull a coworker brought me from Mexico.

Lauren: I would say the most interesting item on my desk is a stuffed poop emoji that was given to me by one of our wonderful technicians, John Sara. When someone is feeling down and needs a good laugh I place the emoji on their chair, works every time!

Q: What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Lisa: From Neal our CEO “Your kids won’t remember why you skipped their event, they’ll just remember if you weren’t there. They will remember when you did show up, so be there!” So lucky to have a boss that understands and encourages us to put our family first always.

Lauren: Take things one step at a time and everything else will fall into place.

Q: Before working at MIS what was the most unusual or interesting job you ever had?

Lisa: I was a bartender in college, that job was filled with shenanigans and people watching I will never forget.

Lauren: Prior to my time with MIS I was able to work for an animal hospital for 3 years. It was an incredible experience getting to work with the Doctors to save lives and getting to meet all the new puppies and kittens that were brought into this world!

Q: What is something valuable you’ve learned from quarantine life?

Lisa: The helpfulness of others, I have loved watching how people of all ages have come together to get through this!

Lauren: The importance of socializing.

Q: Any tips or advice you can offer from your own personal experience to those that might be struggling during this time?

Lisa: To look for the good in every situation, we can’t control where we are but we can control how we react to the situation we are in.

Lauren: Stay active!

Q: When I’m not at MIS I like to:

Lisa: I spend the majority of my time outside of MIS with my kids. My daughter is 8 going on 16, she is a competitive dancer so we spend more time than I care to admit at the studio or competitions. My son is 14, so when he does emerge from his room it is for food or a ride 😉 But they are the joy of my life and watching them succeed and be happy fulfills me. If I am not being a child uber driver I am probably enjoying one of Chicago’s awesome restaurants with friends, like my son I like to EAT!

Lauren: When I’m not at MIS I like to go for hikes and tend my garden!

Q: Secret (or not-so-secret) talent:

Lisa: I love to cook and am pretty good at it.

Lauren: I can hold my own in a game of Super Smash Brothers!

Q: Who inspires you and why?

Lisa: My mom. She is a strong, independent woman that has never backed down from a challenge. She struggled to work and parent on her own (divorce) but never let us down. She has traveled the world in the last few years and has more fun than anyone I know. Her strength and determination remind me that with the right attitude we can do anything! She is my biggest ally and first to challenge me, but regardless of where we are she is always there for me and my kids.

Lauren: My Manager, Lisa Chatys truly inspires me on a daily basis. She is the most self-motivated, intelligent, and kindest person I’ve ever met!

Q: Sport of choice:

Lisa: Ha, that’s hilarious, most uncoordinated person EVER!

Lauren: Softball.

Lauren: Why Didn’t I Think of That?

Q: Superpower you’d like to have:
